1971 Football Season > Kim McQuilken

Kim McQuilken is in the Lehigh Hall of Fame

Bio: A College Division All-American, Kim McQuilken is considered the first in a great line of Lehigh passing quarterbacks. With the Engineers he once held virtually every passing record after completing 516 aerials for 6,996 yards and 37 touchdowns in his career.

In nine losing campaigns before he took over the quarterback job, Lehigh had won a total of only 18 games. In his three years the Engineers won 20 games, including three straight times over Lafayette, and made their first NCAA post-season appearance against Western Kentucky. McQuilken was especially effective against Lafayette as he was the first star to win back-to-back Most Valuable Player honors in the game.

Following his Lehigh career McQuilken's success continued in the National Football League as he played eight professional seasons, four with the Atlanta Falcons, three with the Washington Redskins and one with the United States Football League's Washington Federals.

McQuilken has stayed active off the field as the Vice President for Sports and Brand Licensing at Turner Home Entertainment. Recent local fans are probably most familiar with seeing him serve as a television analyst for Lehigh football.

"The Lehigh experience for me actually started in high school where I had the good fortune to be coached by Lehigh grad Fritz Halfacre. Fritz itintroduced me to the University that has lead to a succession of life-long relationships... I am proud to share this award with all the teammates, coaches and administrators who have played such a large role in any of the success I have experienced," says McQuilken.

McQuilken has two sons, Scott and Brett, the former a Lehigh graduate. McQuilken and his wife Ann currently reside in Dunwoody, Ga.
