Ryan Bernholz

Bio: 1998-EIWA 1st, 149 lb (Fr)
1999-EIWA 3rd, NCAA 6th, 149 lb (So)
2000-Missed entire season with knee injury
2001-EIWA 5th, 157 lb

Rookie-of-the-Year in the EIWA, Ryan set LU marks for most freshman wins (35) and most in first two seasons (72), wrestling an incredible 89 bouts.

His career plaudits include a Va. Duals win over NCAA champ Tony Davis and two wins over NCAA thirds. The last of those was an overtime ride-out win in Grace which brought the loudest noise for any dual in the 9-year Greg Strobel era.

This was fitting since he lost only one dual in Grace in three seasons (to an NCAA champion) and was quoted in USA Today concerning his reverance for the facility, "You just don't want to lose there." His career dual mark was 45-7 (86.5%)
