1996 Wrestling Season > Cory Brechbill

Cory Brechbill

Bio: One of Greg Strobel's first 'most-improved' grapplers, Cory began his senior year with a career 21-29 mark and wound up placing 2nd in the EIWA Tournament at 167 lbs.

Along the way, the crew cut Cory filled the bill nicely at times, earning a sophomore win over future 2x NCAA runnerup and Olympic Champion, Brandon Slay of Penn. The score was 12-8 over that year's EIWA 3rd. As a senior, Brechbill defeated Rider's nationally ranked Leo Giel, 7-5 (the Bronc beat John Van Doren 3 times) and also upended 1996 EIWA champion Josh Bailer, Penn, in their dual just prior to their re-match in the conference finals.
