Steve Kreider is in the Lehigh Hall of Fame

Bio: Steve Kreider came to Lehigh as a freshman quarterback and left recognized as one of the all-time great Engineer wide receivers. He earned All-America honors while helping the team win an NCAA Div. II championship in 1977, the only time Lehigh ever has gained a national title in football. That season he grabbed 53 of quarterback Mike Rieker's passes for 1,181 yards and 12 touchdowns, many of them long-range completions which were game-breakers. And those figures, under NCAA rules, don't include post-season play where he picked up the pace even more.

At the University of Massachusetts for instance, in the first round, the Engineers won 30-23 and Kreider scored all four Lehigh touchdowns on plays covering 7, 8, 35 and 71 yards during a day on which he had 9 receptions for 171 yards. Kreider's career totals at Lehigh are, to say the least, impressive. He caught 118 passes for 2,159 yards and 24 touchdowns.

He went on to play eight seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals. While with Cincinnati, Kreider played in Super Bowl XVI vs. the San Francisco 49ers.

"Anyone who has ever watched me try to play golf will naturally interpret this announcement as a huge compliment to my teammates, to John Whitehead my coach and to Mike Rieker the quarterback who made so many good things happen for me," reflects Kreider on his induction.

Kreider is portfolio manager for Miller Anderson Sherrerd and resides with his wife Nancy and four children in Ambler, Pa.
